This Summer Belongs To Jenny June: IPL Sports Model Pro
Interview By Ben | Michael Brooks Photography
Twenty-eight year old Jenny June was fantastic at the 2017 2nd Annual IPL Natural Gainz Magazine Classic on March 11th in Manhattan, NYC. Reminiscent of top IPL Pro Sunni Ewing’s golfer theme performance (and IPL PRO CARD win) at last year’s New York Pro/Am, Jenny’s version of this theme also proved to be IPL Pro quality.
June brings a competitive physique and fun presentation to the stage. It will be exciting to see her with the rest of the IPL’s Women’s Sports Model Pro lineup. The following smokin’ hot images were captured by renowned photographer Michael Brooks the day after Jenny’s win.
“It’s not a style I’ve done before, but…I was able to bring my pure happiness and sexiness to it!”
Ben Yosef: Congrats on landing the cover of Vigorous! This is definitely one of my favorite covers. The cool colors and texture of the photo…and you just looking amazing. How do you feel about it?
Jenny June: I was beyond ecstatic and almost speechless when it was first announced! I’m still at a loss for words to express my feelings, honestly, ha! I’ve always admired women on the covers of magazines and how hard they must have worked and with great discipline. I got into competing just to prove to myself that I could control my choices and work really hard to achieve that goal. Never did I imagine I could take it farther, this far! It’s a real accomplishment and I’m really proud of myself and happy to be recognized by an organization I feel at home with!
Ben: That’s pretty awesome. Sounds like you have a lot to be proud of! And, we definitely feel honored having you in the IPL Family. So, this cover is pretty sexy. Do you see yourself that way?
Jenny: Thank you! I loved the setting of the photo shoot! I was honestly very nervous when I saw the gorgeous hotel room and didn’t know what to expect or what style the shoot would be. Working with Michael Brooks was a fun and exhilarating! He made me feel very relaxed and helped me break out of my shell a bit to express a sexier look.
Typically, I keep my wardrobe fairly conservative, so after I booked the shoot I definitely needed to go shopping! I’m aware of my beauty and hold a lot of self-confidence but after transforming my body into bikini- competitor-ready shape, yes, I think I’d have to say I felt pretty sexy! I wanted to show off my hard work! It’s not a style I’ve done before, but I’m really happy that I did it and was able to bring my pure happiness and sexiness to it!
“Letting down my walls (with modeling) comes much easier when you feel beautiful and have hard work to show off!”
Ben: Do you have much experience modeling? Or are you just like a natural at it?
Jenny: A natural?! Thanks! [laughs] No. No formal experience, anyways. I had a previous shoot a year before that was a different style. Perhaps that helped me become familiar with the camera. I’m a rapport builder. Once trust is built, I let down my walls of insecurity. Letting down my walls (with modeling) comes much easier when you feel beautiful and have hard work to show off! Feeling good in your skin is the best feeling of all. And, that’s a natural response!
Ben: What is a typical day in the life of Sports Model Pro & Cover Girl, Jenny June like?
Jenny: Work, work, work! My typical day has changed dramatically over the last thirty days! For the past three plus years my full-time job was Personal Trainer and Nutritionist. A typical day would begin at 5:00am training clients through the late morning hours.
During the mid-day hours I focused on myself, eat a healthy meal that I prepared (I follow the IIFYM method) and get in a solid workout. Typical workouts lasted 1.5 hours in a split cycle. Then I would get myself ready to personal train my evening clients.
“I recently decided to put my business degree into my work again.”
I recently decided to put my business degree into my work again. Leaving training was tough! But, I made the decision to continue growing my personal profile and skill set. I just started working with Enterprise-Rent-A-Car as a management trainee.
I wake at 4:00am for an hour workout split routine, get myself ready, pack my meals for the day and I’m off for a twelve hour day job! I have my hands in Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Finance! It’s a fun, rewarding and also exhausting job!
At the end of the day I just try and relax to wind down. By 9:00pm I’m in bed and ready to do it all over again! I plan to use my skills and degrees (BBA in Business & Marketing, MS in Exercise Science and Nutrition) to open my own personal training facility one day!
Ben: Wow, well good for you. Brains and brawn. You are totally a Vigorous Girl. What is the motto or mantra you try to live your life by?
Jenny: Thank you! “Everything happens for a reason.” Each time I come across an obstacle, I always come out the other side “ok”. No matter what happens, I find a way to make it through and make my situation better. Even when I don’t understand why I’m going through a rough time, a lesson can always be learned. Everything I’ve been through, good and bad, has made me the person I am today. I’m blessed.
“I can finish a Netflix series and a bottle of wine in one sitting. Some people consider those talents!”
Ben: Do you have a secret talent?
Jenny: A secret talent? Hmmm, I don’t think so! Gosh, I wish. That’d be fun! I can cross my eyes, fold my tongue, reach my shoulder behind my back… I’ve got a good sense of direction, great time management skills, and I’m crazy organized. I can finish a Netflix series and a bottle of wine in one sitting. Some people consider those talents! [laughs]
Ben: I like it! It has been great getting to know a bit more about you. And, I LOVE these pix! I am sure VIG readers will enjoy this feature. What is next for Jenny June, and when can we expect to see you back on the IPL stage?
“It’s truly a thrill, and I miss my IPL family!”
Jenny: Thank you! Yes, I am very pleased with the pictures! Originally, I anticipated being back on stage in September. However, with my new career, different responsibilities and physique goals, I’ll be working on my health and physical goals through the year. I hope to be back on stage early 2018! If I could compete every month I would. It’s truly a thrill, and I miss my IPL family! VIGOROUS
