New IPL Bikini Pro Kristen Davis Is On Fire In Florida!
INTERVIEW BY BEN | MICHAEL BROOKS PHOTOGRAPHY
If there’s one competitor that owned the Bikini division at the 2019 IPL Sunshine State Championship on April 13th in Daytona Beach, Florida…it was Kristen Davis. Kristen’s blend of full muscularity, balanced proportions, solid conditioning and A-class presentation propelled her right to the top.
First up, Kristen would take 1st place in the Bikini Novice class. Then it was on to Bikini Open. Here she would repeat with another win and IPL Pro Card. Then shortly after this contest Kristen landed on the front cover of VIGOROUS Magazine. And, as this goes to press, she is on the roster for her IPL Pro Bikini Debut at the Florida Pro in September!
It looks like Kristen Davis is just getting started!
BEN YOSEF: First off, big congrats on your show. You were amazing. How are you feeling about how things went down in Daytona?
KRISTEN DAVIS: Thank you! I still cannot believe it. This league truly makes the sport fun. I feel honored, truthfully! I am proud of myself for fully committing and trusting in the process and even more proud to be a part of a team!
BY: It was all very well deserved. Your physique really stood out at that show. And, on this magazine cover, obviously. Do you have a background in sports and fitness?
KD: Thanks! I worked very hard, but had fun while doing it! I still can’t believe a magazine cover. I did competitive gymnastics as a child and softball. I have always been active in something. After having my daughter 9 years ago, I was introduced to Herbalife by Jen Micheli and that is when I really got into the sport of lifting weights.
As I started weight training I fell in love with watching how you can control your physique. It truly is a work of art. From pushing yourself to the last rep to seeing your first muscle definition. I love my time in the gym. It also encourages me to stay active and a strong role model for my daughter.
BY: Love it! What was your physique like before you really started focusing on your shape and muscle development? Also, what do you think is your best body part, or your favorite area of your physique?
KD: Oh boy! My shape resembled my favorite food, tacos. -laughs- But I was a bit heavier. I have always carried my weight in my stomach and shoulders. My legs have always maintained tone and shape.
I have to say my hamstrings are my favorite area of my physique. They are fun to train. I often feel a lot of people miss out on the need to train their hamstrings. They really help develop your lower body.
As much as any girl has a body part they dread when they are holding weight, my shoulders have always been naturally wide. But, when I am training, I find they develop really well too.
“BLOGGING AND VLOGGING…I WANT TO CONTINUE SUPPORTING THE BEST BRANDS AND MAKE SURE I INFLUENCE THE RELATABLE LIFESTYLE!”
BY: You seem like such a natural, as far as modeling. Do you have any experience with it?
KD: Thank you! That is such a huge compliment. I do not have any experience with modeling. Does social media count? -laughs- Seems like that is the most practice and experience I have. I enjoy capturing moments and I’m certainly not shy with the camera!
BY: Based on your experience with modeling and competing, what tips would you give to girls out there who wish to achieve what you have so far?
KD: To just be you and never compare your journey to anyone else’s! My coach always inspires me to just trust the process. In the competition/modeling world it is very easy to get caught in comparisons.
A few tips that helped me stay grounded:
#1 Have positive daily discipline, journaling, positive leadership videos.
#2 Find looks/traits of all your great influences. Make sure to write those things down daily. You will be surprised at what you attract.
#3 Practice! I practiced my posing every night after my workouts. I also record myself speaking and posing. It is an easy platform to reference.
#4 Reach out and leverage your resources. Never be scared to ask for advice or help! Everyone was once a beginner.
#5 Be confident! Often times everyone gets caught up with the fear of what others think or might say about their journey. The more you tell your story, the more people you can touch!
At the end of the day you decided to take a chance on yourself! You are worth it.
BY: Incredibly insightful stuff. Where do you see yourself in the next five years with health, fitness, competing and modeling?
KD: I never really mapped that out until recently. I am big on goal setting when it comes to my professional life. I quickly realized it is important to have both.
I am inspiring to continue the competition lifestyle. I have added Fitness Angels for my next competition. I want to continue developing my knowledge when it comes to nutrition and the science behind it all.
As far as modeling, it would be great to become recognized in more of the IPL magazines, blogging and vlogging also my favorite active wear and of course Herbalife! I want to continue supporting the best brands and make sure I influence the relatable lifestyle!
BY: Fantastic! You really seem to have a good head on your shoulders. And are certainly an exciting competitor and model. I have a good feeling that we well be working with you a lot more in the future. Thank you for being such a big part of this issue. See you in September! VIGOROUS
